If you are ever in Jacksonville FL mark this one on your ‘to-do’ list! Marker 32 is a wonderful dining experience with a wide selection of food and Wine. Tastes Like Travel had the opportunity to dine there on Jan. 11, 2010 with a party of 15.
Our host started the evening with wine from the well rounded wine menu and a variety of appetizers of course. We sampled the sweet & sour Calamari with Sesame Slaw. The calamari was very fresh and soft, and the sweet and sour sauce was light and refreshing. We also tried the grilled oysters with black pepper pecorino cream, and it melted in your mouth. The Asian short ribs with sesame slaw were crisp and tasty. Appetizer off the special menu…
With a large party there were a variety of entrees tried, and the compliments abounded. I shared a warm spinach salad with bacon and honey tarragon dressing, topped with cheese. I believe it had been baked, like a casserole, with the bits of bacon and cheese hidden inside. It was a pleasant change from the usual spinach salad.
For the main course, I selected the fresh grouper from the daily specials. It was seared perfectly and laid upon a base of smooth grits, over warm tomato compote.
Desserts were many and provided a sweet finish to the evening. Sampled were the dark chocolate, cocoa nib and tangerine bread pudding with cranberry balsamic ice cream, grand marnier crème brulee, and the house specialty, sweet potato doughnut holes with rustic blackberry sauce and apple butter ice cream.
Tastes Like Travel highly recommends Marker 32.
